- All students must write the final examination in January.
Learning Skills will be evaluated separately from student achievement. These include the following areas:
-Independent Learning
-Group Work
-Work and Study Habits
-Organization
-Initiative
-Self-Regulation
For these areas, a letter grade will be assigned:
E= Excellent
G= GoodS= Satisfactory
N= Needs Improvement
These letter grades will appear on the student report card in an area separate from the achievement chart marks.
When evaluating student performance, teachers will assign a level of achievement on the performance demonstrated using a scale from 1- to 4+, with 3 being used to indicate solid, consistent performance at grade level. “R” is used to indicate that a student has not demonstrated the expectations well enough to earn even a level 1. Even when an actual numerical mark is assigned (e.g. 64%), a scale mark (1- to 4+) also will be assigned.
Required Materials:
-a separate 1-1 ½ “ binder, binder paper, dividers
-at least 2 blue or black pens for assignments; pencils for editing work
Homework:
Students are expected to complete a minimum of ½ hour of homework each night. Much of this time should be spent reading texts for immediate and ongoing class work. Also, any work not completed in class should be finished at home; wise use of class time is expected.
